Who is Lemoyne Alexander ?
A blending of soul, rock, and rhythm into a legacy of sound.
Lemoyne Alexander is a name that deserves to be known by every music enthusiast. A hidden gem to some, this American maestro is a gold- and platinum-awarded producer, musician, and songwriter whose influence stretches across decades of music history.
In the 1980s, Lemoyne stood at the helm of The Fascination as frontman and producer, creating a unique sound that set the stage for his prolific career. By the 1990s, he had transformed into a genre-bending powerhouse, primarily shaping the landscape of rap music as part of the production team 3 da Hardway alongside Mr. Lee on Jive Records. Their collaborations with legends like R. Kelly, Aaliyah, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, and more, left an indelible mark on the industry. His achievements culminated in being named Producer of the Year in 2000 by the Chicago Sun-Times, a recognition of his work with icons like Doug E Fresh, DMX, Fat Joe, Twista, Layzie Bone, Scarface, and Paul Wall.
Not content with past successes, in 2009, Lemoyne founded the alternative rock band St8 Of Grace, releasing the critically acclaimed album Thisendlesswar in 2016. His dynamic presence extended beyond the studio to the small screen as a juror on World Of Stars and as a speaker at international music conferences.
In 2019, Lemoyne unveiled his debut solo album, Solitude, through New York’s Isotopia Records. With this release, he transitioned from a behind-the-scenes legend to a front-and-center performer, captivating listeners from the very first track, Cookie Jar. Solitude defies its name, bursting with vibrant energy and deep introspection. From the seductive groove of Black Dress to the raw blues influence in Why Does It Hurt So Bad and Please Forgive Me, the album reflects Lemoyne’s roots in Chicago’s rich musical heritage while exploring the wide-ranging sounds of rock, funk, and soul.
The standout single, Hollywood Blvd., offers a heartfelt tribute to the allure and illusions of Los Angeles, while the 80s-inspired tracks Say Yeah, Scandalous, and Block Party channel the infectious energy of Minneapolis’ iconic sound. The title track, Solitude, is a deeply personal homage to his late father, Oscar “Smitty” Smith, a pivotal figure in Lemoyne’s life and career. The album’s closing piece, Euphoria, is an epic, nearly seven-minute instrumental that showcases Lemoyne’s masterful guitar work, leaving listeners both moved and spellbound.
Lemoyne Alexander’s journey is a testament to his passion and versatility—an artist who continues to evolve, bringing his signature style and soul to every project. Now, he stands ready to reclaim the stage, proving that his time in the spotlight has only just begun.
